Caltrans is proposing pedestrian and bicycle improvements along State Route 36 in the Hydesville area, between highway postmiles 2.8 and 3.2. The state describes the work as its Hydesville Complete Streets project.
Elements under consideration include filling sidewalk gaps, repairing existing sidewalks, adding accessible curb ramps, marking crosswalks and bicycle and pedestrian lanes, installing crosswalk lighting and putting rapid-flashing beacons and speed-feedback signs along the route. These features matter for people walking between homes, community destinations and local businesses on a roadway that carries through-traffic.
Caltrans lists the timeline as undetermined on its project page, so the plans should not be described as already installed. Residents can contact District 1 project staff and consult the official project page for design changes and public participation opportunities.
